Pre- Diabetes Warning Signs
Type I Diabetes Warning Signs
Check the following:
- Excessive Thirst
- Excessive Urination
- Weight Loss
- Yeast infections
- Dehydration (in spite of good fluid intake)
- Vomiting
- Lethargy
- Confusion
- Flu-like Symptoms
- Extreme thirst
- Bedwetting
- Fruity odor to breath
If your child exhibits three or more of these symptoms you should probably have them checked for diabetes.
Type 2 Diabetes Warning Signs
- Increased thirst
- Increased hunger (especially after eating)
- Dry mouth
- Frequent urination
- Unexplained weight loss (even though you are eating and feel hungry)
- Fatigue (weak, tired feeling)
- Blurred vision
- Headaches
- Loss of consciousness (rare)
- Slow-healing sores or cuts
- Itching of the skin (usually around the vaginal or groin area)
- Frequent yeast infections
- Recent weight gain
- Velvety dark skin changes of the neck, armpit and groin, called acanthosis nigricans
- Numbness and tingling of the hands and feet
- Decreased vision
If your child exhibits three or more of these symptoms you should probably have them checked for diabetes.
